Textiles are a multi-faceted material. In the hands of Englishwoman Zara Merrick, scraps of fabric turn into colorful canvases with the image of birds-from fearsome owls to budgies.

In her work, the craftswoman often uses old fabrics from her own collection, which is constantly updated with new cuts from French and English fairs. However, according to Zara herself, it is embroidery that gives the product its finality: "I like to feel how the work turns from a flat blank into something tangible, filled with a variety of textures and patterns."

It takes about a month for an embroiderer to complete such a panel, which is about 70 cm high. But the result is definitely worth it! "I sometimes wonder how I manage to create something like this," Zara admits. — But the love of creativity does not stop there."
