How To Make Dream Catcher With Wood Cuts

Today we will tell and show you how to make a dream catcher with wood cuts. You will need the following materials:

  • twigs for basis (in our case, it is willow);
  • wood cuts (we used cuts of aspen);
  • wooden beads of different sizes (we used 4, 6 and 10 mm);
  • stone chips (for example, lapis lazuli and Apatite);
  • goose and pheasant feathers;
  • cotton yarn;
  • glue;
  • needles.

1. Take the base, measure the thread length of about 2 meters (we took two-cord). The diameter of our base was about 17 centimeters. Attach the thread to the base as shown in the photo, or simply tie it to a knot.

2. Next, make a loop, as in the photo.

3. Make the first row. Here, the distance between the loops is about 2.5-3 centimeters.

4. Tie a knot and cut the thread.

This is the basis you should get.

5. Next, change the thread.

6. We weave the second row. Note that for each loop of the first row, we weave 2 loops. And a wooden bead for each loop.

7. The third row is woven without beads, the fourth with brown beads (two beads for each loop), the fifth again without beads, the sixth with light beads (one bead per loop) and the seventh again without beads.

8. Next, there will be beads made of stones in the weaving. In our case, this is Apatite and Afghan lapis lazuli.

9. We weave on. Change the thread (to brown). Again — a row without beads, a row with small brown beads, a row with stone chips, a row with small wooden beads, and two rows without beads. Then change the brown thread to blue, weave 3 or 4 rows without beads, and then make the final row with light and dark beads. At the end, you can pass a thread through all the wooden beads in the last row to tighten it.

10. Then attach the aspen cut to the base thread. These cuts can be made yourself, if there is material, or bought in a craft store. The hole will have to be drilled by yourself, since these cuts are sold without holes.

11. Making a hanging rope. Take three beads (or two, as you prefer), pass a thread through them, cling through the base thread, and then run through the beads again). Make a knot, cut off the excess.

12. Prepare the feathers! We have a blue goose and the little white-brown pheasant.

13. How to attach feathers? To do this, take a large bead with a wide hole (it should fit two feathers). If the hole is too small, you can embroider it with scissors or a knife. Take the thread of the needle. Tie a knot on the thread. Then thread the thread into the bead so that the knot is at the bottom. Insert the feathers into the bead (on the side where the knot is growing). If necessary, trim the point at the pen. Then tie the feather with the bead either to the base thread or to the very base of the branches.

14. Next, fix all the knots and feathers with glue. Cut the threads. A dream catcher is ready! :)
