Ken Hong Leung, Creator of Magical Landscapes

Ken Hong Leung, a Chinese-born neo-impressionist painter, was born on may 14, 1933 in Canton, China. In 1949, he moved to Hong Kong to participate in the city young art community. And in 1960, his first oil paintings were exhibited in the Hong Kong gallery.

During the year, his fishing villages and provincial landscapes became a sensation not only among young artists in Hong Kong, but also among eminent art critics.

And soon Hong Kong leading galleries were fighting for the right to exhibit Hong Leung's work.

Over the years, Ken Hong Leung exhibited his oil paintings in several countries and received numerous awards. In 1979, he became a legal citizen of the United States. Settled in the San Francisco Bay area with his wife and four sons.

Ken Hong Leung had no classical education. But thanks to his talent, great diligence, unique artistic style, driven by his passion and interest in art, he created his iconic impressionist style. Ken Hong Leung is called one of the best neo-Impressionists of our time. As you know, neo-impressionism appeared at the end of the XIX century, when artists without special education began to mix other styles with classical painting.

His paintings are rich in incredible pure color and a sense of space. But the most striking thing in the works of the artist is that all his works are made in oil, although at first glance it seems unreal — the technique is very much like a delicate watercolor. But it's oil! Masterful brush movements, the complete absence of any technical and stylistic framework. This is the uniqueness of Hong Leung's work.

Today, thousands of art lovers and professional collectors are familiar with the work of the famous artist. His work is exhibited in prestigious art galleries throughout the United States. He is a member of a huge number of different schools and communities of art directions.

The first son, Thomas Leung, and the third son, Richard Leung, inherited their father's artistic talent and formed their own unique style, depicting the same abundance of color and depth.
