Sculptures about to Wag their Tails: Wooden Work by Gerard Mas

His sculptures are strikingly realistic. It seems that they are about to begin to move, bark, grunt and meow. Spanish sculptor Gerard Mas creates incredible animal figures, made of wood.

43-year-old sculptor graduated from School of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Values in Catalonia. His favorite material was wood. "It is soft and textured", says the artist. First, Gerard carves an animal figure out of a thick log. He planes, grinds and smoothes painstakingly. For greater texture, he sometimes burns the surface. So, he gets very realistic muzzles, ears and paws.

The sculptor is known for his cheerful disposition. He often makes jokes and also has his page on the social networks. Under this photo Gerard wrote "Hot dog" : ))
