Luneville Embroidery «Buttafly» by May Lilyq

In collaboration with Masataka Kondo, Japanese embroiderer May Lilyq created the project "Buttafly" for the exhibition.

The mannequin has a composition of round brooches and butterflies, embroidered with beads, pearls, sequins and rhinestones with Luneville hook. The brooches make up a a collection of Voyage dans le temps and will be sold later.

The brooches and butterflies are decorated with geometric patterns. The materials are sewn with strips, circles, zizzags, squares or even twisted into a spiral. Part of the brooches is made only of beads, and part - only of sequins. There are brooches made of pearls, and there are ones, decorated with crystals.

Butterflies are volume, the embroiderer placed them along the neck and on the bodice from one edge. Thus, there is some asymmetry in the arrangement.
We can see the stages of the embroidery. It was made on the frame with the Luneville hook. The basis was silk organza.
