Bamboo Insects by Noriyuki Saitoh

I continue the selection of amazing insects, created from different materials.

Today I want to introduce you a wonderful virtuoso Noriyuki Saitoh and his creations.

Japanese designer Noriyuki Saitoh makes his insects out of bamboo. This work is so thin that it is difficult to imagine how this material can be used to make microscopic parts of wings, legs, antennae and other parts of the body of insects. Bamboo is a hollow tube, and it is necessary to cut and balance all the parts to make it look realistic.

Looking at his insects, you get a sense of life and movement of his creations. All his insects are made in full size and are made strictly according to the drawings. Since bamboo is difficult to work with, the artist replaces some parts of an insect`s body with implausible, fictional ones. But, even with a closer look, these differences are almost imperceptible.

A few photos of the process of creating insects.

On the wings, the veins are cut from bamboo and tightened with bamboo paper, which is so thin that they look transparent!

This sculpture of a praying mantis and a butterfly represents the process of the struggle of life and death:

He had been working for a very long time with this insects, as the disproportionately large body and the small head did not give the opportunity to balance the sculpture.

Well, enjoy watching!

It seems that you just need to touch the insect for it to flap its wings and fly away.

All materials are taken from the Internet!

Thanks everyone who got interested!
