Creating Handmade Weaved Box

In this video I will show you how to make a weaved box from newspaper tubes and cardboard.

The lid is decorated in decoupage technique.

As I have leftouts the newspaper tubes after making a purse (my recent tutorial), I have decided to use them to make the box.

It took me less than 50 tubes.

Tubes were painted with a solution of acrylic paint (coffee color), water and acrylic lacquer.

For the bottom and cover I used cardboard circles.

Dimensions are indicated in the video.

I glued it with the napkins.

After drying, I coated it with brown acrylic paint.

I weaved with two tubes.

The size of the lid was small, so I added tubes at the edges.

I applied the lid to the basis of the box and customized it in size.

For the lid, used a decoupage napkin.

You can use and an ordinary napkin with a beautiful pattern.

I have done it many times.

The surface where the napkin is glued should be light, so I did not paint over it with dark paint.

I covered the whole box with acrylic lacquer.

My varnish is of pine color.

I bought it by mistake without looking at a label :)

Now you have to use it :)

Good luck!
