Today I invite you to sew a needle cushion and purse with me. I used a rectangular unsightly clasp, you can use the clasp of any shape — round, oval, rectangular, and fit both sewn and unsewn clasp.

For work you will need:

• thick cotton for outer part of a needle cushion;
• cotton for the inside of the needle cushion;
• surround interlining;
• clasp;
• lace;
• sewing machine;
• sewing thread;
• cotton cord;
• super glue.

You can use any clasp, and it is quite simple to cut a pattern. Place the clasp in the open form on a sheet of paper and circle on the outer edge. The result is a template for the external part of the needle cushion. For the inside of the needle cushion fold the resulting template in half. Pockets and internal valves can be of any shape and size.

In this tutorial I used unsewn clasp 6*9 cm.

Steps.

Cut out 1 piece with outsizes for the outer part of the needle cushion;

1 item without outsizes of the nonwoven fabric to seal the outside of the needle cushion;

2 items with outsizes for the inside of the needle cushion;

2 items with seam outsizes for internal valve;

2 squares the size of a little shorter than the inner part and wide in the same way.

Pin the two parts of the valve faces inward, pin the parts together.

Lay the seam, make at the beginning and end of the seam tack. Trim the edges around the perimeter with zig-zag scissors. If there are no such scissors, then make notches in the places of rounding.

Unscrew the valve part and lay the seam, leaving 2 mm edge.

Fold the details of the pocket inside the front sides, pin the details together.

Put lace in the joint with the upper edge of the pocket, pin.

Stitch 2 mm from the edge and along the bottom edge, just step back 2 mm from the edge.

Fold together the inner part of the cushion, the pocket part, the inner valve part and the second inner part.

Fasten together at the bottom edge.

Lay the seam, sew together all the folded parts.

Lay out the details. Pocket in one side, inner flap in the other side. Iron the details in different directions.

Iron the detail of volume nonwoven adhesive to the outer part of the needle cushion.

Stitch the inner parts of the needle cushion on the outer part face to each other (inside), as all the details together.

Stitch around the perimeter of the parts, leaving 3-4 cm to turn out.

Trim the edges of the stitched parts with zig-zag scissors around the perimeter. If there are no scissors, make notches on the rounded parts.

Turn the workpiece out, iron.

Lay the line around the perimeter of the workpiece.

Since the clasp is unsewn, it must be glued to the workpiece. The best for this is a superglue.

Apply the glue to the recess of one part of the clasp.

Insert the workpiece into the clasp. Start with the part to which the pocket is sewn.

Apply the glue to the second part of the clasp and put it in the second part of the workpiece. On this side there is no pocket and the workpiece may be thinner than the width of the recess in the clasp. Then use a stick, toothpick or tweezers to tuck the cord between the edge of the clasp and the fabric workpiece.

The edges of the cord can be simply cut off, as in the recess of the clasp is glue, all the details will grab together and the edges of the cord will not fluff or get out.

The needle cushion and purse is ready!
