Embroidery in Mexican Style in Dior Cruise Collection 2019

Let us present you the outfits, embroidered with a Mexican motifs, from Dior Cruise 2019. When working on the collection, the creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri was inspired by the costumes of Mexican women riders. Riders were invited for the show, for who white ensembles decorated with monochrome embroidery were created.

Mexican embroidery has a very bright color palette and is varied in execution, it is characterized by repeated patterns and borders. The clothes is embroidered like Ukrainian embroidered shirt. The embroidery features motifs depicting plants and animals, as well as geometric ornaments borrowed from Indian tribes. This craft has not changed much since pre-colonial times.

Repeated motifs are embroidered on borders, which are located on collars of dresses, on sleeves from a shoulder seam to an elbow, sleeve cuffs, as well as stripes on skirts, running from a wide embroidered belt to the bottom of the hem.
