Melting Ceramics by Livia Marin
  • Category: Ideas & Inspiration

Livia Marin is from Chile, she is a philosopher and an artist. Now she lives in London and is most often engaged in large-scale installations dedicated to the society of mass consumption. But some of her projects are more intimate.

So, in her collection "Broken things" Livia gives uniqueness to everyday things in the most unexpected way. It simulates the split objects and turns them missing parts in the flowing river of china. The patterns of these cups are not chosen by chance -only the aristocracy could own such things before, and now they are easy to meet in any department store. This is the irony of the artist: what used to be a guarantee of quality, now does not mean absolutely anything. Livia as if returned the ceramics its special history.

The main message of the master is to think about the objects that we use in everyday life, but in addition to the philosophical component, in these works you can feel the real magic of art: such melting "dishes" acquire amazing integrity and harmony.

Are you also fascinated by these amazing "cups"? In General, often think about mass production, try to use in everyday life something authorial and special?
