Making a Pop-up Postcard

Tomorrow is February 23, so there is still time to add a handmade card.

You will need:

1. watercolor paper (or design density 130-180 g);

2. glue;

3. scissors;

4. office knife;

5. mat for cutting;

6. board blanking (or needle, empty pen);

7. pencil.

Here is a diagram-drawing, all dimensions are in mm (основа = basis).

1. You need to prepare three blanks: 15x7 cm, 15х8 cm, 15х3 cm.

2. On the 15x7 cm blank cut off the corners. On the upper edge measure 2 cm from each angle, 3 cm down from each angle.

3. Take the 15x8 cm blank. Measure 1 cm from top, draw a line parallel to the upper narrow cut, cut off. Don't throw it away, we will need it!

4. Measure 1 cm inside from the sides. Make creasing lines.

5. Measure 2.5 cm down from each corner inside, 3.5 cm from the corner. Make creasing lines.

6. Make a hole in the postcard.

  • Measure 2.5 cm from each lower corner inside the card, connect the top point with the vertical line. It must connect to the fold of the upper edge.
  • Measure 2 cm from the lower cut, draw a horizontal line.
  • Draw a line from the point of intersection of the folds at the top of the card.
  • Cut out the hole with an office knife.

7. Remove the extra corners (hatching) at the top of the card.

8. Insert the item 15x3 cm (tap), it should be free to enter the hole formed from the bend and close the hole.

9. From the remaining part from step 3, make a piece a pocket wide.

10. Glue the narrow part to the tap. Check the mechanism, it should move freely up and down.

11. Apply glue to the valves, glue the card to the base, so that a frame is formed around the main element.

12. Decorate with stripes, buttons.

13. From the remains of a narrow strip, make a stand-lock, folding it several times. Glue the stand to the tap end-to-end to the bottom of the hole.

14. Glue the star. Raise the tap and you can write a greeting!

Card's ready! It can be used after the holiday as a bookmark.
