Unique Insects by Edouard Martinet

I want to share with you photos of insects created by a talented sculptor Edouard Martinet. The extraordinary sculptor who creates his works from scrap metal.

Edouard Martinet is a French sculptor. He was born in Le Mans in 1963. At the age of 10, he and other students got acquainted with the insect world with one of the teachers. He did it, so to speak, obsessively. But insects struck the little boy so much that he devoted his life to them.

Edouard graduated from high school of graphic arts in Paris, L'ecole Superieure des Arts Graphics, seriously engaged in the manufacture of sculptures in the steampunk style. After 40 years, he became a brilliant insectopia of art world, transforming discarded pieces of trash, selected from flea markets and sales of auto parts, into exquisitely executed insect, fish and animals.

.

Edouard creates not only insects, but also other animals:

I found his page on the Internet and looked into his studio, it was very interesting to see how he connects all these small details, how he fixes the plates of scales and jaws. The main feature of his work is that he does not use a soldering iron, glue or welding. All the details are fastened with bolts and nuts. He works on each insect for about a month, until all things are in the right place. Firstly, he draws a draft of the future insect, and only then looking for the necessary materials. All things are used in this work: typewriters, medical tools, utensils, spare parts from different vehicles. He collects materials several years, carefully storing them in his studio until he has everything he needs to make masterpiece. Sometimes he cannot find the right parts, then he redraws and replaces one thing for another.
