Knitting a Simple Shawl

According to this description, you can knit a shawl with any threads of any size. Even a beginner can handle that. It is enough to be able to cast on (in any way), make knit stitches, make treble crochet, knit 2 stitches together (in any way) and finish the row.

You can take a thin thread of mohair or goat floss and get a light, airy, fluffy shawl. Or you can get a volume wool or acrylic, and you will knit large and volume shawl quickly. Or you can take cotton and knit a small bacchus. It all depends on your desire and patience.

This shawl is knitted from Alize Superlana Maxi Long Batik (25% wool, 75% acrylic, 250m/250g), color 6775, circular needles №8, consumption 500 gr (2 skeins).

The shawl is knitted with simple garter stitch, i.e. knit all the rows, front and back, with knit stitches.

Start knitting

Take circular needles suitable to your yarn, and cast on stitches in any way you like. Knit 6 rows with knit stitches (all stitches are knit, including the edge).
After the 6th row, without turning the work, cast 3 more stitches from selvage loops.

Turn the work and cast on 3 stitches more from the first row. All in all, you have 9 stitches on needles.

Turn the work again.

Row 1 (front side): 3 knit stitches (KS), yarn over (YO), 1 KS, YO, 1 KS (place a marker on this stitch or in front of it, it is a centre of the shawl), YO, 1 KS, YO, 3 KS.

Row 2 (back side): all stitches and yarn overs are made with KS.

Row 3 (front side): 3 KS, YO, 3 KS, YO, 1 KS, YO, 3 KS, YO, 3 KS.

Row 4 (back side): all stitches and yarn overs are made with KS.

5 row (front side): 3 KS, YO, *2 KS together, YO* - repeat until the central loop, 1 KS, *YO, 2 KS together* - repeat until the third stitch, YO, 3 KS.

Next, knit in a following way:

In KS rows make YO after the first 3 KS, before and after the central stitch, and 3 stitshes to the end of the row.

Back side. All stitches and yarn overs are made with KS.

Each 5th row knit in the following way: 3 KS, YO, *2 KS together, YO* - repeat until the central loop, 1 KS, *YO, 2 KS together* - repeat until the third stitch, YO, 3 KS.

Knit shawl of the desired size and finish stitches in any way convenient for you.

The shawl is ready.

If desired, it can be decorated with tassels throughout the lower border or in the corners.
