Beautiful Birds of Australia in Realistic Textile Works by Jill French

Jill French, an Australian craftswoman, lives in the mountains near Melbourne surrounded by wildlife. Every day she watches a variety of birds that fly to visit them and gets inspired by them. But the first birds from fabric were created much earlier when she was travelling in her youth and got impressed by bright clean colors of African outfits and infinitely long Indian saree.

Peacock is Jill's favorite bird. For her, he became a symbol of slow pace of life and ability to enjoy every moment. Jill has the same philosophy about her handwork, devoting many hours to fine embroidery details at home or even on the train to work.

For Jill, love of nature is a part of love of natural materials, and her birds are amazingly realistic and look natural in their habitat.
