Holiday Candle Decoration in 15 Minutes

We want to share the simplest idea of candle decoration with materials at hand. We made these decoration for our friends` wedding, but the decor is great for any holiday — New year, March 8, or candlelight dinner at home!

To do it, we will need the following:

1) tea candles (I bought candles in Ikea);

2) acrylic paint (we used white mat acrylic enamel VGT, but any acrylic paint will do);

3) sponge;

4) palette (disposable plates);

5) table salt in the salt cellar.

Let's get started!

At first, "raise" a candle by its wick to conveniently move a colored candle.

Pour a small amount of paint on the palette and saturate sponge with paint a little.

Hold the candle by the top and the bottom, so you can twist the candle without touching its sides.

Begin to paint, using pressing movements to apply paint around the candle. The paint layer should be thick for the texture and for salt to get fixed. Try not to paint the paraffin! If you apply some paint there, wait till it is dry and remove the paint to avoid "surprises" when lighting.

Before the paint dries, quickly begin stiffing salt!

Holding the wick, place them to get dry!

The two of us decorated 40 candles in 15 minutes!

You may now light it!

That is how they looked on the table!

You can develop the idea further: use paint of different colors and decorate candles with any bulk materials! Use your imagination!

Be creative and make the holidays joyful and memorable!
