The Circus Perfomance by Dior: New Spring 2019 Collection

After the Paris fashion week, we are ready for spring-summer season: one after another well-known designers and fashion couturiers present their vision of style evolution for the next six months. As always, the collections of haute couture are designed to blow the audience`s mind. This time, Dior surprises us by unusual outfits and artistic perfomance.

Maria Grazia Chiuri, an Art Director of the fashion house, decided to turn the show into a real circus perfomance! Dresses and suits for spring 2019 reflected the theme of the show: the models go along the catwalk with Pierrot makeup, harlequin check is presented in all possible color variations, canvas and strops of aerialists turn into elegant dresses, and the sequins dazzling shine prolongs festive mood. It is worth noting that all the embroideries are handmade.

While creating the collection, the designers got inspired by circus drawings and illustrations by Jean Cocteau, Pablo Picasso and Cindy Sherman, and also by one of Richard Avedon's most famous photographs, "Dovima with elephants", which was made for Christian Dior's PR campaign in 1955.

The female troupe of circus acrobats Mimbre was invited to participate in the show. The artists performed incredible stunts, created "living passages", standing on each other's shoulders, and flew up in pirouettes to the roof of The Musée Rodin

You can see the fragments of the acrobats' performance in the official video from the show:
