How to Beautifully Pack Gifts

Have you packed the gifts? No? Then here's a simple way to make it beautiful: make a box and decorate it with your own hands. The materials are quite interchangeable, and the idea can be transformed and supplemented. In my previous tutorial, I told you in great detail how to make a box itself and about some nuances of its assembly. Therefore, there is more focus on the decor.

For a box type with a lid and a bottom with a size of 13.5 cm by 13.5 cm and a depth of 3 cm you will need:

  • Light turquoise matte cardboard with a density of 280 g/m2, 2 sheets. The size of the first — 25.5 cm2 (for the bottom), the second —23.8 cm2 (for the lid).
  • Hard felt with a thickness of 1 mm with a size of 13.5 cm2 and 5 cm2 (for the flower).
  • A piece of silk or satin with a size of 10 cm2.
  • Padding polyester — 10 cm2.
  • Satin ribbon — 32 cm.
  • Leather — 7 cm2 and 2 cm2 (for the flower and its middle).
  • Rivet and burr and a press to install them.
  • A punch or an awl.
  • Super glue.
  • A ruler, scissors or a stationery knife, a needle for scoring.

On the cardboard 25.5 cm2 make a mark from the edge with a ruler and a pencil: 3 cm + 3 cm + 13.5 cm + 3 cm + 3 cm. See the pattern, and more detailed steps for marking the lid and the bottom of the box are described here.

For the lid on a piece of cardboard with a size of 23,8 cm2 the scheme is the following: 2.5 cm + 2.5 cm + 13.8 cm + 2.5 cm + 2.5 cm.

With the help of a needle score the cardboard (make the grooves).

Cut off the extra parts with scissors and get these blanks.

Use a ruler to bend all the parts of the box.

Cut out a piece of felt with a size of 13.5 cm2

Cut out a square of silk and satin with 10 cm sides. Cut a square of 8 cm2 of dense cardboard.

Cut out a square of 8 cm2 of padding polyester or soft fabric and join the blanks in this order: fabric, padding polyester, cardboard (in the picture padding polyester is on top for clarity).

Glue the fabric to the cardboard around the perimeter.

We get a soft blank.

Cut out a leather flower with a diameter of about 7 cm.

Cut a felt flower with a smaller diameter of about 5 cm. Cut a leather circle with a diameter of 2 cm + a felt circle of 1 cm.

Glue the workpieces with a drop of glue in the sequence, as in the photo.

Punch a hole in the center with a punch.

Try the flower on the soft blank, mark the center with a pencil, pierce the hole with an awl.

Cut two 16 cm long pieces of satin ribbon.

Connect the felt and the soft workpiece with rivet and burr, smearing them with glue in advance.

In the center of each ribbon make a puncture and place them crosswise on the rivet and burr, put a drop of glue at the base.

After the ribbons put the flower on the rivet and burr, smearing its bottom with glue.

Put the "cap" of the rivet and burr in the center of the flower and set it. The press helps me with this.

The flower is secured, as if embedded in the center: that's what we needed rivet and burr and padding polyester for.

Now it remains to glue the ends of the ribbon from the inside on the felt.

It is better to glue this blank to the lid of the box before its sides are glued.

Glue and press tightly, then glue the sides (this step is described in detail in the previous tutorial).

The box is ready. You can put there gifts.

Create and give with pleasure!
