Magic Embroidery by Mayuka Morimoto Oyanagi

I am a person who is passionately in love with embroidery, I look for and collect the works of talented embroiderers. And here came another diamond, which I put into my cherished folder, to get it out of it late and admire — to get inspired :)

This is the work of the Japanese artisan Mayuka Morimoto Oyanagi. All I know about this wizard is that she is from the island of Hokkaido.

Most of all in her works I was struck by how she had subtly managed to "fit" such a seemingly glamorous material as sequins in animalistic embroidery. And she did not just succeed, with the help of sequins, she added even more expressiveness, tenderness and light to her works. And the quality of embroidery, of course, is beyond praise.

Japanese never cease to amaze with their impeccable taste, great skill, attention to detail and a subtle view of the world. Hiroko Kubota, Kazuko Aoki, Yumiko Higuchi and now Mayuka Morimoto Oyanagi.

And now let's get from words to beautiful works :)

I wish you all inspiring winter!
