Lighter than White — Creative, Audacious, Extraordinary!

Once there was a young man. He was born in Indonesia and later moved with his parents to the island of Taiwan, where he grew and learned to be an artist-ceramist and designer. His name was Henry, a very unusual name for those territories, but his surname was the most local — Wang.

During his studies, Wang experimented with white color a lot and developed his own philosophy — using 50 shades of white and a carefully selected form he could express everything. He wanted to create dishes that perfectly combined modern trends and the legacy of the past, urbanism with its laconic and geometric forms and ancient Chinese traditions with dragon endless curves and squiggles. Creative, audacious, extraordinary!

He drew a lot of sketches, but the idea of the young artist was not accepted by a single pottery manufacturer. It seemed to them technically difficult, even impossible, because porcelain is a very delicate material. Henry Wang was sure that with patience and determination, china can be put in absolutely any form.

His persistence and belief in the feasibility of his own ideas bore fruit — he found people inspired by his approach. After some time there was a new manufacturing company of artistic porcelain NewChi, successfully embodying the daring ideas of the artist. Looking at the subtle shapes of his tableware, we believe that the artisan can make absolutely any form, abundance of decorative elements and delicate details can't help but impress!

"Porcelain mass is the most eloquent material and pottery is poetry," says Henry Wang. "I give a name to each set. The collection already has "Shadow of the Wind", "Bright Moon", "Horizon".

In April 2012, the famous Milan Triennale Museum staged a solo exhibition of the artist. Especially for it his collection with the poetic name of "Lighter than White" was created. It made a furore and brought Henry Wang global popularity. Extremely refined and delicate, the tea utensils from the collection brings wise deliberateness and thoughtfulness of ancient China in the swiftness of modern urban life.

Agree, it is impossible during a busy small talk just take this tea pot in hand and not to hesitate to pour yourself a cup of tea! No, this action requires a special, meditative concentration. Take a deep breath, listen, and get into the feeling of the moment, and you will open a door in the original, in the Lighter than White space, where all colors of the world, shapes and poetic inspiration itself stem from!
