Gulya Alekseeva is an artist, an artisan of making art dolls, a member of the creative union of Russian artists (IFA).

She graduated from LGITMiK (now the Academy of Dramatic Arts). Being a professional, working as an art director, Gulya was engaged in parallel in painting, drawing, creating collages and art objects. However, considering herself a weak sculptor, for a long time she did not dare to start making dolls.

"The turning point" occurred with the appearance of the Varvara Skripkina's gallery in Saint-Petersburg. In addition, by chance, Gulya had to make a few puppet shows. Now Gulya Alekseeva has no regrets that her journey to dolls was so long, as art dolls require professional knowledge and skills in different fields of art.

For a long time the favorite material of the artisan was papier-mache. Then it was efaplast which made it possible to make complex sculptural forms. Not so long ago she had got fascinated by working with wood, a material with great plastic capabilities.
