Knitted Blazer — a Stylish and Practical Piece of Clothing

Knitted blazer? Why not!

Surely, each of us has a favorite knitted cardigan, warm, soft and very practical: it can always be put on if it gets cooler, you can take it with yourself, it perfectly complements our fashion images. There are not many lucky people who have a knit jacket, but they confidently confirm that this thing combines two valuable qualities — elegance and practicality.

How about... a knitted blazer? The fact is that a blazer is a type of jacket, more precisely, its casual version, and it features bright, contrasting buttons, patch pockets, stripes.

The history of a blazer originated in the UK in the 19th century, when the members of one of the rowing clubs have created a uniform, which was, in particular, a bright red single-breasted jacket.

Later a blazer with a sewn emblem appeared in female schools in the Kingdom, as well as members of the crews of British ships — with gold-tone buttons.

In the 20s of the last century, elegant jackets and blazers have become extremely popular, thanks to the legendary French fashion designer Gabrielle ("Coco") Chanel. She was the first to simplify a female costume, to incorporate traditional masculine attributes (trousers, jackets) in it, always following the principle of "luxurious simplicity".

Since the mid-twentieth century to the present day a blazer of a bright blue color with gold buttons and light trousers are indispensable items in the wardrobe of luxury yacht owners and their environment.

A modern blazer is not necessarily a navy blue blazer in a nautical theme with shining buttons and embroidered anchors.

In the season of autumn-winter 2018-2019 fashion houses and brands offer us blazers of various colors, styles and textures. They are legendary blazers-jackets in Chanel style, elegant, monochromatic blazers with a straight or slim cut, and overall men's blazers, oversized, and elongated, with a belt, similar to a coat.

Of course, such a wonderful thing won the love of the world of celebrities and style icons. Look how skillfully Kate Middleton combines a bright blazer with black pants, a turtleneck sweater and suede boots. And Kendall Jenner, on the contrary, picked up a perfect white addition to her satin blazer.

The fashion blogger Wendy Nguyen and the Russian style icon Miroslava Duma wear blazers with a belt. Thus they adapt an oversized thing for their petite physique.

The Ukrainian blogger Alina Friendi loves to combine blazers with skirts: a warm look for autumn with a suede midi skirt, dark tights and ankle boots, a summer look with a flowing pleated skirt, a t-shirt, sneakers and trendy woven bag. Perfect!

Fashion divas Keynes Suite and Annabelle Fleur combine blazers with sneakers, shorts and designer bags.

The Hollywood actress Blake Lively and the Ukrainian Alina wear pantsuits with a blazer, successfully combining them with a coat and ankle boots.

But the most feminine looks, of course, work in combination with heels. Stylish shoes with blazers were picked up by the blogger Wendy Nguyen, the socialite Olivia Palermo and the British Vogue editor Alexa Chung.

Obviously, a good blazer can't be cheap. What to do if you want to look fashionable and cool, but it is impossible to invest a large sum of money in such a thing? Properly, knit it yourself! Yes, just knit it! Then a blazer will not only be a fashionable, but also stunningly practical thing in your wardrobe. And the fruit of the work of knitting is a work of art.

First, choose the model, suitable for hand knitting, this will influence the choice of yarn.

For blazer in the Chanel style, you can choose thin (300-400 m/100 g) solid or space-dyed wool yarn and bouclé. For a classic blazer, choose solid yarn of deep noble colors — dark blue, emerald green, marsala, mustard. And if you want a blazer with a print similar to a plaid, it is necessary to take a yarn of space-dyed matching colors.

And don't forget to pick up bright buttons, contrasting trim or yarn for finishing sides and pockets, a patch or a brooch.

A perfect technique of knitting is crochet knitting, knit stitches or thin garter stitches, because a blazer should keep a good form. Yes, it's not the easiest product to manufacture, but this blazer will look much more stylish and expensive than usual knitted cardigans. If you are afraid that it will look like "a grandma's sweater", then pair it with trendy clothes: a fanny pack, flowing chiffon or pleated skirts, jeans, sneakers, ankle boots and high boots.
