The American photographer Christopher Payne is an architect by education. Being a fan of design and construction, he is mainly engaged in shooting urban landscapes. The photographer has dedicated the last series of his works to textile industry.

Payne explores the world of closed factories for the production of fabrics, threads, lace and tapestries in an expressive and documentary manner. "We live in the era of office work and prosperity of service industry, so most of us have never seen a factory or a plant from the inside," — says the photographer, "We have a very mediocre image of where, how and of what the clothes that we wear every day is made."

Through colorful, truly charming shots the photographer also pays tribute to the people who work on the production. "Everything here is about youth and old, professionalism and ignorance, yesterday's immigrants and veterans of work who have worked all their life at the same factory," — says Christopher Payne. "They all share a sense of dignity and pride for their work. They are a proof that manual labor and craftsmanship still are of great value to modern economy."
