DIY Video: How to Make a Wooden Background for Photos

In our last DIY video, we have shown how to make a photo background using paint of only one color. This time we want to share with you a video on how you can make a photo background using paints of several colors. Let's start :)

1. Take a clean photo background. This time we have a simple furniture board purchased at a hardware store.

2. Burn the wood surface, try to do it evenly so that it doesn't have areas with different degree of "finishing".

3. Brush the surface using a stiff brush, remove the softer burnt fiber of the wood, and reveal a wooden structure. Wipe the surface thoroughly with a damp cloth. Then let our photo background dry.

4. We polish the surface with fine sandpaper, clean the production waste with a clean dry brush.

5. Priming and toning all in one. Take acrylic paint and apply a thin transparent layer, if the paint does not lay down evenly, do not worry, it can be corrected if you go over the surface with a damp brush and rub the paint.

6. Paint our photo background, we will use 3 colors this time: a light grey main color and dark gray and white auxiliary colors. Add a couple of cold blue drops in the light gray color to get a deeper shade of gray. Sometimes it is necessary to add more warm shades, then turn on your inner Michelangelo and add green-yellow, etc. After the paint is mixed, paint our wooden surface.

7. Add the auxiliary color in our photo background palette, we have a dark gray color. Do it with a dry stiff brush, do not apply too much paint to the brush to prevent oily brushes. Before painting you can remove excess paint with a piece of dry cloth.

8. Create a structure using the auxiliary white color. Paint as mentioned above, but take less white paint, just add some color to our photo background.

9. Cover the work with matte wax or lacquer, this is the last step!

Well, our photo background is ready!
