Painting a Picturesque Peony Stil Life in the Watercolour Technique

We have bloomed lush peonies in the flower bed! And it's a good pretext to create :)

To make a still life with watercolours, you need:

- watercolour paper 20x20
- watercolours
- №1, №3, №5 natural brushes
- palette
- water
- pencil, eraser

Build the composition.

Start working. Try colours on the palette before applying them on the painting:

Use gentle shades and pick water in the brush:

Try to transfer colours from real life to paper, be very attentive and careful, there can't be the same colour in point 1 and point 2 — like in real life.

Add warm shades. Shades are warm, and parts under the midday sunlight are cold.

Add colour intensity with the second layer:

To add shades in the heart, go back to the middle and apply a few broad strokes in this direction:

Do the same with the leaves:

Add details:

Emphasise the shadows:

And proceed to the background. The ticks mark places with intense greenery in the background, they're rather dark but shouldn't varnish the peonies' foliage:

Thus, the background around the flower shouldn't make it escape, it's light green here:

All is done!

Friends, thank you for your attention!
