Japanese Modern Art: Anime and Manga

I like Japan for it combining new technologies and cultural traditions and for anime cartoon.

Anime, as an independent sphere of animation, originated in 1958 and was officially recognized as an art in the late XXth century when the Japanese got interested in foreign techniques of creating animated films. Anime and manga are divided into genres:

Kodomo is for children under 12. The distinctive feature is 'childishness' without ideological content, hardness and coarseness.

Shounen is anime for teenage boys (12 to 18). The genre has a rapid development, contain many humorous scenes based on friendship, any kind of competition in life, sports and martial arts.

Shojo — for teenage girls (12 to 18). Such stories usually present love of ranging degrees depending on the age of the target audience, great attention is paid to the development of characters.

Seinen — anime for men (18 to 40). Characteristic features of this genre are elements of psychology, satire, erotica, more attention is paid to the development of characters.

Josei — anime or manga for women. Stories often describe an everyday life of women living in Japan. As a rule, it is devoted to events from the school life when the main female character meets other characters and the plot of the story begins.
