The Heritage of Our Ancestors: Traditional Russian Embroidery Patterns

Making a spring cleaning in my bookshelves and closets, I came across an interesting folder with traditional Russian patterns of our foremothers that I had inherited.

The patterns were used for richly embroider shirts and sundresses. Each pattern has a specific meaning, our ancestors never did anything just for so. Each cross, each stitch are full of imaginative significance and meaning: longevity, wisdom, joy, the unity with forces of nature.
Perhaps, sometimes we lack the forgotten wisdom of the ancestors.

I've scanned the sheets and bring them to your attention. I think that these patterns will be a great addition to materials for people engaged in sewing popular Russian and Slavic clothes. Maybe someone will find new ideas or samples. I've tried to make high-quality scans.
