Sewing a Purse with a Clasp for a Teddy or Doll
  • Category: DIYs

Recently, I decided to sew a pretty Teddy lady :) And a handbag with a clasp had to complete her image. I want to share the tutorial on making the bag with you :)

You need:

  • clasp (I used the smallest, 6 cm)
  • velvet
  • fabric for lining (gabardine)
  • canvas (of any colour)
  • Iris floss
  • ordinary thread
  • needle
  • scissors
  • wooden stick
  • crochet hook
  • a pen or pencil
  • pins
  • pattern
  • embroidery scheme

The pattern and the embroidery scheme:

Print in the desired size and cut out.

Transfer it to lining and velvet:

Cut out with sharp scissors with allowances:

Sew the canvas manually to the backside of velvet:

Embroider:

Here's how the right side of the handbag looks :)

The auntie will be happy :)

Sew the details in pairs at the bottom line of the cut. You get two pockets.

And sew them together at the upper line of the cut. Leave a hole for turning outside in:

Use the wooden stick for turning. Here's what you get :)

Pull the lining inside the purse.

Sew the clasp with floss. Pick a bead every time you pass and bring the needle back. Will look very neat :) To make a handle for the handbag, crochet a cord out of chains and sew to the purse.

That's what comes out at the end! Thank you for your attention!
