How to Make a Key Hanger with a Folk Horse Pattern

There is something 'honest' in folk patterns, something noble in their natural simplicity. And today I want to share the beauty with you!

You need:

- a wooden plate, the thickness 15-20 mm
- metal (copper or whatever)
- linen
- screws
- push pins
- factory hooks or wire 3 mm, screws + welder
- stain
- spray bronze paint
- car lacquer
- tempera
- thin brush for painting, No. 1 or No. 2
- screwdriver, drill and different nozzles
- tin snips
- hammer and anvil
- file

I will explain at once — I will tell you how these products were made by me.
I'm sure that you can replace a half of the materials and tools!

Let's get started!
Take a wooden 20*20 cm blank.

Then give the surface a wood texture. This can be done in different ways: use a special nozzle or anything else.
You get:

Then stain the blank:

Now you can work with details. Cut out a linen rectangle:

Prepare push pins:

I decided to make metal inserts. Cut copper strip:

And process it this way:

The result:

Apply patterns with tempera / acrylic paint / oil paint. Let it dry, lacquer it:

Next, paint on the linen:

And assemble all the parts together:

The hooks are also made by hand, bent out of wire. Well, I love 100% handmade things!
Let men push the pins :)

And now I will show you some examples of items made in this technique!

Thank you for your attention!

Best wishes,
