Hella Jongerius and Her Unusual Porcelain

Hella Jongerius is a Dutch designer working with porcelain and summarizing the impact of traditional and modern techniques and knowledge. Her main unchanged principle — an everyday experiment. Wood, neoprene, polyurethane, ceramic, glass — all these materials together create unexpected combinations at the behest of Hella Jongerius. She is interested in work with archetypes. And the goal is the product — bowls with animals created on request of the porcelain Nymphenburg Manufactory. This porcelain 'zoo' has been created by hand and painted by the artist which explains the high price. Ceramic animals look incredibly alive; foxes, birds and miniature hippos are found in fragile ecosystems. Hope you'll appreciate the characters!
