Painting a Wet-on-Wet Cosmic Watercolour

I decided to show how to entartain your kids with watercolor stories and paint a whole space around!
What you have at hand:

  • watercolor brushes (at least 2 of different size)
  • white and gold gouache
  • ink
  • spray
  • sketch board
  • sticky tape
  • watercolor paper(I used A3 size)
  • alcohol

Step 1.

Fasten the paper to the board.

Step 2.

Sketch the composition.

Step 3.

Moisten the paper with water form the spray bottle. Leave for a minute water to get in the paper. Remove water from the board.

Step 4.

Apply paint and admire:

Use black, purple, emerald for the background. For nebulae: ultramarine, lilac quinacridone. Leave space around the planets.

And a little secret: clean the brush, dip in alcohol and put points :)

The paint blurs.

Our background is ready! Let it dry for 7-10 minutes.

Step 5.

Make planets voluminous stretching a colour from light to dark shades. After that wash the brush, dry with the cloth and press it against the planets — get a relief.

Step 6.

In the process of drying, the paper 'ate' the richness of black. Recover black with ink.

Step 7.

Add details with gouache.

Our little home space is ready! Follow my new DIYs. Wish you success!

Sincerely yours,
