How to Make a Felt Owl Purse at Home

Today we're making a small purse made of felt with a pocket and a back zip.

Pattern for printing on A4 paper. The size of the finished owl is 13.5*11.5 cm

You need:

  • Felt
  • Zip
  • Buttons 2 pcs
  • Magnetic or sew-on button
  • Semi ring

Cut out all details according to the pattern.

Start with the muzzle. Sew the eyes to the face as pictured:

Sew the pupils:

Sew the face to the body:

Add the nose to the muzzle:

Sew the second part of the nose:

The muzzle is ready, now make the wings. Each wing consists of two layers of felt.

Start with the right wing, sew the two parts.

Apply the magnetic button before stitching the layers. You can add fusible webbing for a more reliable attachment:

Set the button:

Now sew the two layers of the left wing.

The second part of the button is set on the muzzle. The button must be between the nose and the pocket:

Make the pocket that consists of two layers. Sew the two layers of the pocket along the upper edge. This seam is marked blue on the pattern.

The remaining perimeter is sewn to the body:

The back part of the owl is cut out in two parts. Sew in the zip into the cut shown in the pattern.

To make it easier to use the purse, make a small flap:

First, sew one side of the flap below the cut:

The second seam is made above the cut.

Sew in the zip:

The sewn zip should look like this:

Decorate the wings with feathers and sew them to the front part of the body. The left wing is sewn so that the magnetic button is closed.

Stitch parts of the body, add the semi ring. These places are marked with dashes on the pattern.

Make the final seam. The owl is ready! :)

Only a couple of hours, and an original, funny, excellent purse is ready!
