Ginger jars are highly valued by collectors of porcelain who use them for various design projects. But ginger jars hasn't always been so popular, especially in Europe, and have not always been called ginger jars. They appeared in China and began to be exported to Europe in the 19th century. They were originally used in Ancient China to store and transport precious spices. The most commonly used and favourite colour is blue-and-white which became popular in Europe with the chinoiserie fad in the 17th century.

Usually hand painted, authentic antique ginger jars were made from porcelain. Nowadays they serve as investing and fine interior objects. Hope you'll enjoy the way they look indoors on shelves and mantelpieces:

I wish you beauty, inspiration and sunny mood!

Love,
Olga Manoilenko
