Linocut: Let's Print Together on Postcards, T-Shirts, Walls!

Linoprinting is an amazing task for kids and adults, you'll be marveled with its opportunities! So I offer you to follow a few simple steps to create marvelous prints on any surface you want.

Sketch

Firts of all, draw a sketch with a pen. Transfer it on linoleum, select any option:

1. Through carbon paper.

2. With the help of a lazer printer.

3. Or inkjet printer.

4. Or in mirror reflection.

Carving

Then carve it out. Take all necessary tools — onglette gravers :) The best are not cheap, they keep sharp much longer, but they are worth the money. Don't carve linoleum through. Carve out all background, so leave only the lines and dark backgroud, if necessary.

Applying paint

And then apply paint on your linoleum matrix. Paint differs from the surface you're using.

1. Acrylic paint for fabric. When paint dries, iron the image to fix it.

2. Acrylic paint or ink for paper.

1. Acrylic paint for walls.

Wouldn't recommend pearl or metallic paint, the effect doesn't work here.

And you'll get a marvelous decoration! Here are some examples of patterns I used and share with you:

By the way, here I used three pieces of linoleum and applied three different paints:
