Nobby Cannetille: Amazing Embroidery by Humayrah Poppins
  • Category: Ideas & Inspiration
  • Practices: Needlework

The insect world is full of inspiration: colourful butterflies, transparent wings of dragonflies, glossy bellies of beetles — all this is well transferred to the art world. In particular, works of English needlewoman Humayrah Poppins reveal wonderful combinations of silver lace and gold twisted thread, cotton and silk threads, beads and metallic leather, they take the shape of amazing inhabitants of an insectarium, feathers, trees and fancy ornaments.

'I often walk in the woods near my house. I collect leaves, twigs, feathers and other trinkets there and then bring all home to keep. I like transforming my finds into art. I put my heart and soul in each embroidery, my works are a part of me I want to share with others,' says the girl.

Good luck and creative inspiration! :)
