Haku Wire Wrap: Making a Fantasy Pendant of German Silver

Today I will show you quite complicated but interesting creation process of a pendant.

So, you need:

- wire (German silver) 1.3 mm, 0.8 mm, 0.6 mm, 0.3 mm

- gemstone (I used a cubic Zirconia / phianite)

- pliers

- graver / file / grindstone

- sandpaper

- polishing paste

- solder (I have soft)

Step 1. Solder a prong for the stone

Take the 0.6 mm wire (if working with German silver, burn it beforehand).

Make the prong according to the shape of the stone.

Raise the clip on the prong following the shape of the stone, but not up to the end.

Step 2. Make a base for the pendant

Take the 0.8 mm wire and the engraver / needle file.

Slightly file it in the center at approximately 2/3 of the diameter.

Bend a tip.

Make the second element the same way, apply the prong.

Solder all the parts together at the junctions, solder the corners.

Step 3. The second part of the base

Now take the thickest wire. In my case, 1.3 mm. Again file the paces of junctions, where the an acute angle wil be, bend and apply.

Solder the junctions and the tip.

Sand.

Apply to the pendant.

Take a small piece of 0.8 mm wire, melt balls at the tips and bend in a circle.

Join with the base and start winding 8 x 4.

The finished part is attached to the part with the stone.

Wrap the top of the blank from under the bottom part. The bas of the pendant is ready.

Step 3. Soldering the upper part

Remember to make slits at the bends, make parts as in the photo below using 0.8 and 1.3 mm wires.

Solder the junctions and corners.

Sand the blank.

Apply to the pendant.

Step 4. Join the parts

Do the following: bring back the upper ends under the top of the pendant to fix the pendant later.

Melt the ends of the balls and add two small identical pieces with the diameter of 0,8 mm.

Wind them around the details, leaving the ends for fastening below.

Place the detail into our pendant (that's the backside in the photo), bring the ends there, too, wrap the pendant with them.

All exposed parts are carefully wrapped around the pendant, following the outline.

Step 5. Final detalization

Take two cuts of 0.8 mm twire, wrap them around the pendant seeing where they will be.

Join them with each other:

Wrap the pendant and pass the ends to the backside to fix the details.

Take a piece of 0.6 mm wire, melt the ends into balls and add last details.

The pendant is ready.

Step 6. Making a bail

Take a piece of 0.8 mm wire. Apply this shape:

Solder the tip.

Bend the edge with the pliers.

Bend the bail up to the end.

After that, take a polishing paste, printmaker, and polish the pendant to gain shine. I used a polishing paste for chrome.

Admire the result :)
