Retro is a whole epoch understood in many ways — so many men, so many minds. Someone thinks that retro is everything relating to the 1930s, and someone believes the 1990s to be the cool old retro. In Webster's dictionary, the definition is quite generic, which is "relating to, reviving, or being the styles and especially the fashions of the past".
