Heritage of England: Exquisite Embroidery by Helen M. Stevens

Helen M. Stevens was born in Belmont, Surrey, England. In 1981, she established her studio, True Embroideries, and since then her original embroidery became famous worldwide, presented at international exhibitions in Australia, USA, France, Italy, South Africa, Russia and the middle East, and her masterpieces belong now to many collections around the world.

Teaching has always been an important feature for her career. She has always considered sharing skills and knowledge to be important. In 2015 she decided to get away from this to focus again on her works, but she still keeps in touch with her followers all around the world: there are nearly 7,000 followers on Facebook. She also participates in online activities.

Helen M. Stevens has also been involved in the study of Anglo-Saxon embroidery techniques, in archaeological researches together with graduate students of the University of Cambridge, her interpretation of the 8th/9th centuries embroidery has been exhibited and represented in the British Museum.

Helen now lives in a cottage in Suffolk, and the history of the city and the constant presence of flora and fauna in her garden provide endless inspiration for creativity. She loves poodles and cats, takes part in amateur theatres and folk dances.

Helen M. Stevens has written twelve books. Unfortunately, many of them are no longer printed, but she has already uploaded electronic materials on the Internet.
