Sewing a Cozy Case for a Basket

Today I will tell you how to sew a case for a basket. Surely anyone has baskets that are bought without fashionable covers, or maybe just wants to change them for a new interior. Now you can do it yourself :)

You need:

1. Cotton.
2. Scissors.
3. Threads.
4. Lace.
5. Pins.
6. Basket.
7. Sewing machine.

The case will be square or rectangular like the basket.

Measure the height of your basket, my basket was 7 cm.

Measure the length of the basket from the outside so that when folding the cuff freely fit the basket and was not small. I got 19 cm, width 13 cm.

Now you need to measure the cuff, I needed 3,5 cm.

Measure the height of the case on a piece of the cloth, The bottom of basket was 19*13 cm.

Here's the attern + seam allowances.

Start stitching the side seams, pin them.

Stitched on the machine and overlock the edges.

If you don't have a zigzag, use another stitch to save the edge from fraying. Pin the seam from the right side.

Stitch on the machine stepping back 5 mm from the edge.

Then turn inside out and stitched stepping back 6 mm from the edge.

This right side.

Sew all side seams.

Try the case on the basket to check and fix anything if required.

Now fold the edge of the cover by 5 mm.

Then again fold at 1 cm.

Baste the folded hem.

Stitch on the machine stepping 2 mm back.

You can decorate the edge with the lace.

That's what you can get, adorn the baskets with handles:

Or make a bow. I made two stripsof 5.5 *11 cm.

Pin.

Stitched on the machine, stepping 5 mm back from the edge.

Turn outside in:

Iron:

Cut in halves:

Now retreat 3 cm from the edge and mark with a pencil.

Pin:

Stitch on the machine, stepping back 5 mm from the edge.

The second edge:

This is how it looks:

Put the case on the basket:

Cut out a bow, the perimeter of my basket was 66 cm so I cut off 100 cm x 7 cm.

Fold in half and stitch, leaving 1 cm from the edge, angles at 45 degrees.

Leave 2 cm in the middle to make it convenient to turn it outside in.

Cut off fabric on the corners.

Turns the bow outside in.

Iron it.

Pass the bow in the tabs of the basket and tie.

Admire the result :)

I really hope that my DIY will be useful for you! I wish you a sea of inspiration! See you!
