Amazing Botanical Porcelain by Vladimir Kanevsky

Vladimir Kanevsky is our former compatriot (the USSR citizen) who works with porcelain and ceramic making incredibly realistic plants.

Vladimir creates not only 3D plants, but also pots, soil and even moss of porcelain and metal. So, flowers are made of porcelain, and stems and leaves — of metal. On the one hand, it is not pure porcelain already, but the works are much stronger then and not so cranky. If masterpieces of pure porcelain should be stored under a glass bell, these can even stand outside. I also like that they look more natural though it is not pure ceramic.

Another point is that many works look natural even though such plants don't exist.

Porcelain flowers by Vladimir Kanevsky are sold in the flagship Dior store in Paris and are widely known among the connoisseurs of porcelain and art. His works are bought by well-known designers, European princesses and other wealthy people. The author is somewhat puzzled with such recognition. He laments the fact that serious sculpture like torsos he creates and exhibits, for example, at the Venice Biennale, are not sold, and the flowers are in a many-years waitng list. However, it's the same as always — people love souvenirs that look rich and pretty, when the flowers are smooth and colours were vibrant.

Kanevsky lives and works in New York.
