Sewing a New Spring Outfit: A Passport Cover and a Vanity-Bag

So spring is on the doorstep! Hurray! — Sunny weather always gives inspiration, and this time I was lucky to grab a piece :)

The mood — an idea — and here is a pattern. Today it will be a gift set with spring passport cover and a vanity-case.

Today I share the pattern, a sublimated one, it is transferred on Korean felt.

Materials and Tools

- pattern for the both items of the set on three A4 sheets

- a corresponding amount of white felt

- zipper of 20 cm

- magnetic button

- wooden buttons for decoration

After the transfer of a sublimated patternб there is always a slight feeling of wonder — the colours of a "cold" print-out are changing beyond recognition, they are blooming and getting saturation:

Cut out all parts out of felt.

First sew the cover.

Take a couple of rectangles that will form the side pockets of the cover and stitch the long sides.

Now insert a magnetic button on the details of the strap and the front side of the cover.

Take the second part of the strap and combine it with the first one, the one with the button. Seam allowances can be neatly cut off.

Clip the button to check if the picture matches.

After you check wether the pattern matches, you can sew the strap to the back side of the cover.

Before assembling all parts, decorate the cover. I decided to "settle" a couple of flowers and butterflies.

Now the last step is to assemble all the parts and stitch the perimeter of the cover.

Cut off the seam allowances. You can round out the edges.

The cover is ready! :)

You can proceed to the vanity-case!

Let's start with the zipper.

Stich on the zipper to the small detail.

Now stitch on the zipper to the main larger detail.

Now stitch the blank to fix the zipper. Remove the temporary stitches.

Cut off the excess of the zipper, scorch the cut with a lighter, stictch all once again along the outer perimeter of the small detail.

The back side doesn't also look very attractive.

The zipper is sewn into. Unzip it, unfold the piece with the right sides inside, fasten with clips or pins.

Sew the bottom and side seams.

Fix the tucks:

Turn the corners outside in and straighten them.

The vanity-case is ready!)

Seat another butterfly on the zipper if you want.

So, that is all, a simple job! You can present the set. Enjoy your creativity!
