DIY Flowers from Crepe Paper for Gift Wrapping

I will tell how to make three-dimensional flowers from crepe paper to decorate the packaging. And where else to use them depends only on your imagination. Be creative and share the bright colours of a spring sun!

  1. Take a sheet of drawing paper, draw several (according to the number of the flowers) circles with a diameter of 4 cm, cut them out with scissors. This will be the base for flowers with a diameter of 10-15 cm
  2. Take the crepe paper and cut out trapeziform petals with rounded corners of 3 sizes. Large – 5-7 cm, average 3-5 cm and small 2-3 cm. For the heart, cut stripes with a width of 2-5 mm and length of 10-15 cm. To speed up the process of cutting the petals, fold a sheet of paper into several layers and cut out a lot of petals of the same size.
  3. The shape of the petals can be any, it depends on what you want to get at the end. To make the edge of the petals wavy, stretch the paper from the left side of the round corner with fingertips in opposite directions.
  4. To give the petal volume, stretch the middle in different directions with your thumbs. The depth of the flower depends on the strength you apply. Stretch gently and evenly so that the paper did not torn.
  5. Make the hearts to the future flower. Take the ribbons of crepe paper and, starting from the left corner, stretch the edge in different directions, so that it also became wavy, like petals. Then fold the resulting strip into a roll and fix the edge with glue so that the middle didn't not unroll.
  6. Glue the paper circle and the base of the petal separately. Carefully gather the edge and fix it on the base. The wider you make the base, the greater the volume and the number of pleats will be. If the petals are too large, you can trim them at the base.
  7. Glue the remaining petals and stick them one by one in a circle or random order. For the outer layer you need 5-9 petals. It depends on their width and the density of the location. Use glue gun for larger flowers. Or press the hearts glued with PVA with a jar of water until the glue dries.
  8. Stick the next layer of the medium petals on the same principle. Optionally, you can make 3 or 4 layers. Then glue the gathered ribbon to the heart.
  9. Wrap your gift in a colourful crepe paper, fix the edges with double sided sticky tape or glue gun. Pick 2-3 pretty ribbons and tie the box in one or two directions. Try not to make a very large knot so that it is invisible under the flower, or make a bow. Decorate the box or a card with a flower over the ribbon. Attach the flower with double sided tape, glue, pin or a staple.
