I want to offer you an easy method of making bases for bracelets from polymer clay.

Materials and Tools

1. Metal bracelet (sold in abundance in any budget jewellery store).

2. Knife for cutting off excess.

3. Polymer clay.

4. Fimo gel.

Roll out clay on a pasta machine to the desired thickness. I usually use C mode, I think that if you use a thicker layer, there may be some difficulties with the removal of the form after baking.

Carefully stick our base in clay and cut off the excess around the edges. Closed bracelets are cut in half lengthwise (to remove them from the form).

Put it in the oven to dry.

Closed bracelets are coated with fimo-gel, gently smoothed over the junctions with polymer clay and again put in the oven. If the smoothness of the base is not critical, perfect the joint with sandpaper.

A little bit about the advantages:

- metal edge of the form will not allow you to cut the excess polymer clay sloppily :)

- speed

- most store-bought bracelets have a hammered pattern. This allows to get a textured inner surface

- the bracelet bases may be compressed and expanded to the desired diameter

- perhaps the main advantage — the variety of shapes and sizes!
