DIY Wild Rose Lantern

You need:

- wooden blank with glass inserts

- motive for painting

- stained glass paint

- contour for glass

- acrylic paint

- one-step craquelure

- acrylic varnish

- bitumen for aging

Decorate wood. Apply the bottom layer of paint — brown. Dry. Cover the blank with one-step craquelure (sponge or brush). Allow to dry practically to the end and apply the top layer of paint (ivory) with a sponge. Cracks appear right in front of you. Leave overnight to let craquelure completely dry.

Cover with several layers of acrylic varnish. To give an antiqued appearance, corners and protruding parts are covered with bitumen, excess is removed with white spirit.

Decorate the glass. Degrease glass with a olvent or nail polish remover. Put the motive and draw the lines with the contour. All lines should be closed. Allow the contour to dry and fill the pattern with stained glass paints. I used Plaid stained glass paint, they do not flow and create a little volume. Ensure that the paint is without gaps. Leave to dry for 2 weeks.

Cover with stained glass sealant. If you use stained glass paint or varnish, just follow the manufacturer's instructions.
