How to Make a Fancy Quilling Flower

You need:

- a sheet of white A4 paper (not cardboard)

- shape and ordinary scissors

- yellow ink and red stamp paint

- sponge

- pipette

- pencil

- stationery knife

- PVA glue (for paper) and instant glue

- tool for quelling

1. Take the sheet of A4 and draw strips with the distance of 3 cm. You need 4 strips.

Cut out and glue to get one long white strip.

2. Take yellow ink and red stamp paint, the sponge and pipette.

The sponge should be slightly wider than the paper tape (more than three centimeters). Apply paint on the sponge using the pipette. Yellow is applied on one half of the sponge. The second half is for red paint.

3. Paint the tape! Let it dry completely.

4. Take the shape scissors.

The yellow decorative edge can be touched a little with the sponge.

5. The major point — making the petals. Cut the tape this way leving the very red edge untouched.

6. Make the heart of the flower. Twist the strip of quilling (any colour and width) into a tight roll so that to leave the roll on the tip of the twisting tool and its diameter corresponded to the diameter of a pencil (if the roll is smaller, add one more strip).

7. Glue the untouched red edge.

Apply the roll and wrap it.

This method helps to control the base of the flower — you can always press it against the table and fix with your fingers.

When the flower is ready, I recommend to fix its base again (it should be flat) and glue with PVA. After this procedure, the flower should be given time to dry.

8. Gently remove the flower, slightly twisting the tool.

Spread out the petals with your fingers so that the middle was slightly open.

9. Take the utility knife and a long sharp pencil. Measure 3 cm from the edge (can be more, if desired) and cut off the part of the pencil with the knife.

Insert the pencil in the middle and glue it.

The flower can decorate any card, magnet or topiary.

Thank you for your attention. Good luck!)
