Crocheting a Charming Little Owlet with Tassels on Ears

DIY on crocheting an Owl.

In the end, you should get a sweetheart doll of size about 7.5 cm (without tassels on ears).

You need:

1. Yarn (mine is YarnArt Jeans, 160 m/50 g) of different colours.

2. Hooks 2 and 4 (according to the yarn you use).

3. Glass balls with the diameter of about 1 cm.

4. Hollofayber (for stuffing).

5. Simple needle.

6. Instant glue.

7. Scissors.

8. Polymer clay (if you sculpt the beak).

Keys (British):

DС - double crochet

TC - treble crochet

HTC - half treble crochet

DTR - double treble crochet

INC - increase

DEC - decrease

A - amigurumi ring

CH - chain

Body:

Row 1 — 6 DC in A;

Row 2 — (INC) x 6 times = 12 DC;

Row 3 — (DC, INC) x 6 times = 18 DC;

Row 4 — (2 DC, INC) x 6 times = 24 DC;

Row 5 — (3 DC, INC) x 6 times = 30 DC;

Rows 6-11 – 30 DC;

Row 12 — (3 DC, DEC) x 6 times = 24 DC

Row 13 — 24 DC;

Row 14 — (2 DC, DEC) x 6 times = 18 DC;

Row 15 — DC 18;

Row 16 — (2 DC, INC) x 6 times = 24 DC

Row 17 – (3 DC, INC) x 6 = 30 DC

Rows 18-21 – 30 DC

Fill the body with holofiber, fold the top in half and join with DC.

Eyes (2 pieces):

Row 1 – 6 DC in A;

Row 2 – (DC, INC) x 3 times = 9 DC

Row 3 - 9 DC

Don't forget to leave a thread of about 15 cm for sewing. Glue the eyes to the body using instant glue.

Tummy:

Row 1 – 6 DC in A;

Row 2 – 14 TC, change the colour;

Row 3 – (DC, INC) x 7 times = 21 DC

Sew the tummy to the body.

Wings (2 pieces):

Row 1 – 6 DC in A, change colour;

Row 2 — (INC) x 6 times = 12 DC, change colour;

Row 3 – (DC, INC) x 6 times = 18 DC, change colour;

Row 4 — (2 ВС, INC) x 4 times, HTC, 2TC in 1 loop, TC, 2TC in 1 loop, HTC, DC = 24 DC.

Sew the wings.

Tail:

Row 1 - pick 5 CH, starting from the 2nd loop from the hook and crochet 4 DC;

Row 2 – DC, INC, INC, DC = 6 DC

Row 3-4 — 6 DC;

Row 5 — 2 DC, INC, INC, 2 DC = 8 DC

Row 6 — 8 DC.

Sew the tail.

Now we need to make tassels on the ears. I prefer to wind threads on phone, but you can use cardboard or a sheet of paper with a width of about 5.5-6 cm. Make 5 wraps, cut in half.

Pass the 4 hook between the loops, grab the threads in the middle and pull.

In the result, pass the loop through the ends of the threads and firmly tighten.

Do the same with the second tassel. Cut the threads to the desired length.

If you decide to sculpt a beak of clay, then take a small piece of clay of the desired colour. Give it the form of the beak, make nasal pits with the needle.

Bake at the temperature stated on the packaging. Glue.

If you want to make a crocheted beak:

Row 1 – 4 DC in A;

Row 2 – 4 DC;

Row 3 – (DC, INC) x 2 times = 6 DC.

Sew the beak.

The Owlet is ready!

If you attach a ring with carabiner, you would make a great keychain on your bag or pram.

Nice crocheting and even loops!
