Christmas Felt Wreath with Snowflakes

On the New Year's eve, I wanted to surround myself with beautiful things and enter a fairy tale.

Materials:

  • expanded polystyrene insulation (sold at hardware stores) — 90 cm
  • ball of cotton threads, 100 g
  • felt of different colours (I used 3 colours)
  • Christmas balls, 2 pcs
  • felt ribbon with snowflakes pattern (or cut out your own felt snowflakes)
  • decorative golden ribbon
  • stones / rhinestones / beads
  • deer figurine

Tools:

  • tape
  • scissors
  • pattern scissors
  • glue gun
  • soap / chalk / special marker for fabric

Step 1

Roll the insulation and fasten with the tape.

Fix the end of the thread with the tape on the ring and wrap the whole wreath.

At the end, tie a knot — the blank is ready :)

Step 2

Transfer the pattern to felt using chalk / soap / the special marker, cut out all circles with the pattern scissors (1 dark blue, 2 cream, 3 light blue). Draw a spiral on the blue circle and cut it out. Cut the spiral in two. Cut one cream circle into a spiral.

Step 3

Apply felt snowflakes to the blank. Carefully glue them to the base (a drop of glue in the centre of a snowflake).

Lay out all felt circles, spirals and the figurine on the base.
Glue the parts to the base. Decorate with stones and beads.

Glue the Christmas toy. The thread was removed, and the ring — broken off.

Step 4

Initially, I put the ball in the centre, but when everything was in its places, I faced a little problem: the side with the applique was heavy and the wreath didn't hang right. I had to think out — and added some other decorations to the opposite side.

The final touch was to tie a big bow in the middle, make a loop of the thread and admire :)
