DIY Felted Woolen Mosaic

Welcome all who are here to scroll through at my felting DIY 4!

Today I wasn't going to write about the mosaics, the plan was to talk about a different technique, but I happened to mesh a pullover — this and felted balls combined in my mind and it turned into what I want to share ...

What you need to simulate mosaic on felt:

- net fabric
- cardув wool
- combed wool tape
And all the things you normally use when felting.

First, make woolen smalt.
For that, felt a cord.

I will briefly describe how to make the cord, because it has been made before me many times.

I used combed wool tape. Separated long strands and put them together to make a multicoloured ribbon.

Soak with soapy water, wrap it in the net and roll, when the wool is felted, remove the net and continue to roll with palms.

The cord need not be very dense, felt it half-ready.

The cord is cut then into pieces (small or large, depends on the size of the squares in the net)

The smalt is ready.
Now take a piece of the net cloth (I used viscose).

If the size of the cells is large enough, you can immediately go down to work; if the cells are small and can be stretched, take a frame, stretch the cloth on it and treat it with starch or gelatin.

When all is dry, begin to lay out the smalt.

A small area is laid out.

The rest of the cells are filled with cut combed tape (about 1 cm wide)

Next goes carded wool, and felt as usual.

Try to make it and you will succeed!

Write back, if you have any questions
Good luck !!!
