How to make an Original Brooch with Felt Houses

Materials:
- 1 mm felt of two contrasting colours
- mouline of various shades
- beads of different shades
- metal pin for brooches
Tools:
- scissors
- needle
- washable marker
- black gel pen
- paper
1. Proceed to work
Gather all necessary tools and materials. Draw a sketch of the brooch.
In our case, take two sheets of felt of contrasting colours — blue and orange.
The colour of mouline and beads should match the colour of felt.
Draw the sketch of houses on paper and cut out.

2. Cut out the templates

Transfer the shape of the brooch on felt with a slim gel pen.
Blue felt for the right side, bright orange for the back.
Cut along the contour. Keep the felt scraps — they will come in handy.

3. Start the embroidery. At first, embroider the outlines with backstitch in accordance with the pattern.

Choose bright, contrasting colours. Embroider fences, windows and facades.

To make it easier, use a washable marker.

4. Embroider the roofs of the houses

The brooch I wanted to make was devoted the winter, so first I embroidered the
snow roofs on the left house by simplethreads overlapping from one edge to another.
The roof of the second house is embroidered with translucent blue beads.
I randomly added transparent beads to the roof of the left house — that was frost.

5. Finish the embroidery

Add orange beads on the fence of the left house, embroider the right fence with more details.

Embroider white vertical lines under the roofs — icicles.

Add knots across the facade of the left house which is snow; dashes across the right facade — bricks.

Add some pattern on the shutters.

Put the right side of the brooch over the back one, trim with scissors.

6. Sew the blank to the back

As the roof of the right house looks heavier because of the beads, sew the blank off-center.

7. Sew the brooch together, fill it with scrap felt

Use a blanket stitch. Leave an hole for stuffing.
Fill with small pieces of felt. You can gently push them inside with a pencil.
After stuffing, sew up the hole, fasten the thread and hide it inside the brooch.
You can make a seam in the middle, to divide the houses with the contour.
