I want to show you how to build a pattern for felting mittens, so that the thumb was proportional and of the right size.

So, we need a hand, paper, pen and ruler.

1. Outline the hand.

2. Now attention! All sizes are measured and increased from the point between the thumb and index finger.

3. Draw around the hand and thumb, increasing the pattern by 3 cm — for the thickness of the hand. Mind the red lines — they are unchanged. One should not increase the pattern here.

4. Now measure the thickness and length of the finger and palm. Multiply these dimensions by 1.5, and draw it from the point in the right direction.

5. It is left only to put the line down vertically. Measure the hand length of the mitten taking the cuff into account. Multiply by 1.5. Transfer the result to the pattern from the top edge down to determine the bottom line of the pattern.

The pattern for felting a mitten is ready!
