Easy Make, Easy Use: Handmade Yarn out of Scraps

Like most of knitters, I let yarn scraps pile up. It is impossible just to throw such treasury away, so I’m always looking for ideas of how to upcycle it. What can I do of the yarn? Another yarn, of course :)

So, sort out all yarn scraps by colour (there are some balls in the photo):

Knit a chain out of each ball. Leave ends on each side of the chain.

Many cords come out.

Take one cord and thread the needle with it.

Insert the needle into the first stitch of another cord and pull it up.

Make 8-10 stitches along the light blue cord as in the picture. Then knot 8-10 stitches along the violet cord the same way.

Cut off the ends and keep on knitting.

The ball is growing :)

Such a cheerful yarn comes out.

Or yarn like this.

Knit rugs, baskets and many other things of the yarn. You may pick sets of yarns with matching colours and make smooth transfer from one colour to another. Enjoy creating!
